FAQs

Are your products safety tested?

All of our products undergo rigorous safety testing in accordance with UK legislation by accredited laboratories located in the EU. We also implement rigorous safety and storage standards. Whilst we expect negative reactions to be exceedingly rare, the human body is a diverse thing, therefore, all fragrance or shaving products should be patch tested before wider use as a precaution. All ingredients are listed both on the product packaging and the website; please review these for any allergens that you may be susceptible to. Please see our Ingredients, Allergens & Safe Use section for more information.

How long have you been established for?

The fragrance house Plowden & Fallow was born in 2020, so yes, we are pretty young, but with this young age comes a highly youthful approach whilst taking inspiration from tradition, the best of both worlds? Behind the faces of our products are artisan craftsmen and women with decades of experience in a variety of fields. We hope this youthful yet traditional approach shines through in terms of our product ranges.

Are all of your products unisex?

All of our creations bar the shaving ranges are produced as unisex products. Although, a sliding scale on each fragrance composition notes makes reference to either feminine or masculine characteristics, this is more of a guide for those that may be less familiar with purchasing fragrances. In summary, if a Plowden & Fallow fragrance is shown to be more feminine on the sliding scale, it shouldn’t put any gender off from wearing it and vice versa.

Are all your products British made?

All Plowden & Fallow products are made here in the UK, by hand, with the care, safety standards and attention to detail you would expect from us by highly skilled craftsmen and women. Needless to say we are very proud of our British manufacturing heritage.

Do you test, or support companies that test on animals?

Rest assured, Plowden & Fallow endeavours to be an ethical company in all its activities. Certain markets and countries require cosmetics to be tested on animals in order to import products into those markets. We will never ship into these markets, or test any of our ranges on animals; to do so would strongly go against our company’s underpinning philosophy.

Do you post internationally?

We thank all those making enquiries about the Plowden & Fallow ranges internationally. At the current time we are not in a position to implement international postage or distribution, although, we are working hard to change this and hope in the not too distant future to be able to offer this service.

Are you planning on releasing more products?

We love creating! We do indeed plan to release a number of new ranges throughout the coming years. In fact we are already crafting, formulating and testing new fragrances and shaving creams presently, although this is a timely exercise. If you would like to be among the first to know please do drop us your contact details in any of the newsletter subscription boxes- we’ll keep you in touch.

What is your dispatch time?

As a general rule, our dispatch time is 1 working day. However, if a customer order is placed before midday, we try to dispatch that order on the same day, although, sometimes there may be factors outside of our control that may delay either postage or delivery. As a customer focussed company, we endeavour to provide a prompt service and exceed your expectations. For more information please see our delivery section, contact our customer service team or see our terms and conditions.

How sustainable are you?

Plowden & Fallow applies and emboldens the notion of sustainability across our product ranges with the aim of reducing the impact that our activities as a company may have on the environment. Where possible, we will always elect to utilise recyclable materials, reduce transport miles, and all of paper packaging comes from accredited responsibly harvested sources. Although not yet implemented, Plowden & Fallow are soon hoping to carry out a yearly process of carbon auditing across our product ranges to then enable us to offset our utilised carbon in the form of diverse species tree planting schemes carried out, in house, here in the UK.

How should I store a Plowden & Fallow fragrance?

We recommend that customers store fragrances and shaving products out of direct sunlight and at a normal room temperature: 15-21 Degrees Celsius. Temperature extremes or direct sunlight may alter the character of a fragrance. For example, a perfume that has been left in a cold environment will temporarily, until it has warmed, smell very different to one that has been stored at a fairly constant room temperature.
